Has the country gone crazy?

I want to start this blog by informing readers of my personal, cultural, and political background. First, I am a 55 year old white male who likes to think of himself as an open-minded common-sense type of guy. Until recently, I had no serious interest in politics. As much as I hate to admit it, I only cared about family, keeping busy at work, and satisfying my need for adrenaline fixes by riding fast motorcycles or driving fast cars. I was raised and have lived in North Florida my entire life. At one time, I was a registered republican, however, my political philosophy is more aligned with the Libertarian Party.

Current events were and are definitely important to me and I would say that I am probably more aware of what is occurring in our society than a majority of our citizens. But, I used to think there was nothing one person could do to change anything that was wrong. Now I know better. Nothing would ever change if we were all apathetic like I was.

Thus the reason for me writing this blog: I can try to reach like-minded people in an effort to form a coalition to make change. Surely no one with common sense can say that our country is not being attacked on all fronts including from within. Even if I do not find anyone with my views, the writing process will be cathartic for me. So here goes.

First and foremost, I am astounded at the ignorance of the average citizen and sometimes our elected officials. Very few of them know much about our U.S. Constitution. Take a poll of your family and friends to determine how much knowledge they have about our constitution. I bet a majority of them do not have a clue about this great document's primary purpose: to create and define the structure http://www.pegc.us/archive/Authorities/Wilkinson-Web.pdf of our nation and assign powers to these created organizations and/or divide the powers equitably between the States and the newly formed federal government.

Since the inauguration of Barack Obama, I have witnessed our country going quite insane. Hardly a whimper from anyone, except for the hosts of some of the talk radio shows and Fox news, when our federal legislators passed a bill which mandates that individuals purchase health care. Thank God a district judge in Virginia ruled yesterday that this portion of the bill is unconstitutional. And, this is just one of the many insane unconstitutional actions being committed by our municipal, state, and federal governments on a daily basis.

So, fellow-citizens, let us educate ourselves and take this country back, constitutionally, from the brink of destruction instead of waiting until it is too late for that and we have no option but to do so by armed rebellion.
